Frank Lampard FULL Pre-Match Press Conference – Hull v Chelsea – FA Cup Fourth Round – SUBTITLES

Thoughts
on Three as the new Chelsea shirt sponsor? It’s a big deal for us, to link up with Three,
leaders in their field, a great brand. I’m very happy with it and as a team and a
club we’re very happy with it. They are leaders in 5G I’m told so it’s very
exciting to be involved with them going forward and I’m looking forward to it. Any news on Tammy Abraham’s injury? The good news is he hasn’t fractured anything,
we were worried about a hairline fracture. The other news is we still have to see how
he develops. It’s not a clear-cut one. He’s not fit for the weekend, but whether
he’ll be fit for Leicester after that I’m still not sure. So I haven’t got great news, or the news for
you. It’s still not clear at the moment. Does that injury up the impetus to get a striker
in? I think the impetus to bring in a striker
or players potentially that can get on the end of these chances we’re creating is there,
and we have to be really honest about that. Recent games have shown that if we are struggling
to create that’s one problem, but when you’re creating 20 chances a game and not scoring
enough goals that can be crucial. So I don’t think it absolutely changes it
but Tammy of course has been our main source of goals, so yes, it’s very relevant. With Olivier it’s still the same position
where there’s been contact with other clubs and if and when that’s agreed I’ll let you
know, but it’s not yet. So he’s still our player on those terms. Edinson Cavani, any forward movement or any
other options this month? I think there’s choice, it’s not the ideal
window, I think history’s proven that, albeit there have been some good signings in January
for clubs that have made a difference both long-term and short-term. I think it’s about trying to get the choice
right of the player that we can bring in considering what’s available. The club know, I’m saying pretty much the
same thing every press conference, and the games are showing that, the club know my thoughts
on that. So we’ll have to see at the time the window
shuts. Boubakary Soumaré, is he on your radar? I am aware of him as a player, but he is not
on our radar for this window. We played against him, but he is not one on the immediate radar.
Albeit he is a good player, but he is another club’s player. Still six points clear in fourth, how does
that make you feel? I’m not happy. When I say that it is more
of a fact that we know that we could be better off and there could be more daylight in fourth
place for us. We can’t control what anyone else does, so those results happen or they
don’t. All we can look at is ourselves and if you look at the last two games alone, we
have controlled huge parts of them. Albeit Arsenal went down to ten men. We were the better team in that first part
of the game too. We have not scored our goals and had a couple of moments in those games.
Newcastle, two shots scored a goal. Arsenal, two shots scored two goals and we had near-on
20 shots in both of those games. So there is big answers for us there that we have to
find the solutions for, because I know that we have lost points from these situations.
We have to get it right because the battle is going to ramp up. Kepa, under pressure. How would you expect
him to deal with the criticism? Well he will have to deal with that. That
is what football is, every player no matter great you are in your career, the best, the
absolute best of all time will get criticised and you have to deal with it. Goalkeepers
maybe slightly more spotlight on them, but it is a similar thing, really. I think the
important thing for that is not to get too embroiled in what is said on the outside and
look at your own game. It is always the basics, how hard can I work. This is not just Kepa,
any player. If you feel in a lack of form, fight to get it back. Go back to basics. Is goalkeeper a position you are looking to
strengthen in this month? I am not looking at it now. I am not affected
by criticism from the outside as much. I am aware of it, not affected by it. It is what
I want for the team and I think with Kepa he knows, he’ll be honest that there have
been some mistakes that have cost us goals. It is the nature of it, so that needs to improve. Fixture congestion and winter break? I am not sure it is a real hard one and there’s
no absolute science to that. I think maybe with muscle injuries you link it more to congestion
of games. With Tammy, it is more of an impact injury and it can happen anytime. I don’t
know the details so much. We are congested. It feels like there has been a lot of congestion.
We can say it has been the same for all teams and all that stuff. That’s true. But when
individuals are coming into play and are getting injured then maybe that’s something that
should be looked at again. First transfer window at Chelsea and a first
for Petr, how have you found it? I found it like I found it at Derby last year.
It is tough because you want to bring in players. Every situation different. It was different
at Derby County but there was a desire to bring in players in January to see parts of
the squad improve to get you where you needed to be. That makes it a month where a manager
your mind is always here first and foremost with what you have in front of you but you
are striving to get the best. So it is a busy month for that. FA Cup, wanting to win it? We just want to win it. We just want to win
it. We respect the FA Cup. I do, the players do and this club has been fortunate to win
it a number of times in the modern era. So we want to win it, I don’t think we evaluate
it like what’s the best chance of us with top four and is it more important than the
FA Cup. People will argue that but I don’t need to get into that battle. We are professionals
so can we win the game and get to the next round. Some criticism about N’Golo Kante’s position,
why is he playing in that role? I haven’t always played him in the same
role as I am guessing what you are saying with Sarri playing him as a slightly further
forward number 8. There has been plenty of times this season where we have played with
two midfielders as N’Golo Kante played for France, as he played for Leicester and as
he played for Antonio Conte’s team with two midfield players. He wasn’t the holder
in Antonio Conte’s team. Matic was probably more of a holder than N’Golo Kante because
he used his energy to get all over the pitch. So I have used him as I see fit on that. Will Willy Caballero start tomorrow? Yes, Willy will start tomorrow. I am very
happy for Willy to be at the club and I have found him as nothing but professional and
he is very talented in training day-in day-out and when he gets his opportunity to play,
so yes. Any updates on contracts of Pedro and Willian? No, no updates.

Almost 10 minutes and just a single question (in the final minute) about the game tomorrow. The first question asking what the coach thinks about a sponsorship deal!! What a fucked up world we live in.
