I don't understand how the boat was out there filling with water for that long and the captain still didn't have the good sense to open the canopy and hand out life jackets. All these deaths were preventable.

This is really sad I cried the whole time watching it. I hope that all the families get through this. This is not the first accident with the duck boat just a different place and there was no storm with the other accidents they need to take better precautions with peoples lives or shut them down.

Spin Doctor…If the company was concerned about the safety of the crew and passengers, They would not allow departure.
If you can't find weather on television…LOOK OUT THE DAMN WINDOW!

I've lived here in Branson and my daughter and I went on it twice this year. For people on this feed who are saying negative comments about the people eating on the Branson Belle, need to understand how this works. It's not like they could have gotton up and run to the edge of the boat and jump into the water, swim through 4 to 5 foot waves before the Duck sank. Once the Duck capsized it was all over, it was probably at the bottom in a 10 to 15 seconds. I still don't know how the survivors even got out. Theirs a complete plastic tarp that stays up. They had it down and then they buttoned it, like a jacket. They do keep life jackets and other things in the underside of the canopy. The Captain did say that they didn't need to put them on. The storm came in very fast and so hard that it knocked 2 trees down next door to me. It was completely calm one sec, and then 70 mph The second. The weather man even said…If you're on the lake, to get off it now!. Theirs 2 drivers on the duck, one drives the Duck on land and he talks about Branson, and theirs another man who is the Captain and drives only on the water. This man is certified by the coast guard, and makes the decision wheather it's safe enough to go on the lake or not. He made the worst mistake of his life. The Captain lived and the driver along with 16 others didn't. Their wouldn't be anyone on the Branson Belle who was a strong enough of a swimmer to do anything to help. This company is owned by Ripley's and I'm sure the Ducks will go out of business soon. A family member of the the 9 that drowned has already filed a law suit for 100 million dallors. It's really easy to judge a situation after it already happen. Those people who died didn't know any better, their doing what a million others have down for years. RIP

My mother and step father ride these damn boats every time they go to Branson, and I always told them, don't get on the damn thing without a life jacket.. My mom would roll her eyes at me and tell me they were gonna be fine, and that I shouldn't worry. Ya, well, I'm just thankful they weren't there that day, cause knowing them, they wouldn't have put on a life jacket..

No glass breakers on board? For so many people to die like this, it must have really been a horrible trap… You bet that the only thing the Coleman family can do after such a horrendous loss is try to get the duckboat business to close… How can you go on with your life when you've lost 4 children and 3 adults in your family… Poor family….

So many bad decisions made at one time. I wondered why so many people died. Then I looked at the size and physical condition of most of the passengers and then it all made sense. The majority were too large to fit out the windows. Very sad situation.

THE PILOT WAS ILL TRAINED FOR THAT WWII DUKW, & IT'S QUITE OBVIOUS NOT ONLY HIM, BUT THE PILOT OF THE OTHER ONE THAT WAS ON THE LAKE THAT DAY BOTH PANICKED.
THEY ARE LUCKY BOTH BOATS WEREN'T SWAMPED & LOST.
IF THEY WOULD HAVE SLOWED DOWN & DROPPED BEHIND THE WAKE OF THAT PADDLE BOAT THAT FILMED THE SINKING, THEY WOULD HAVE NOT SWAMPED & SANK THAT OLD DUKW.
ALL THE DUKW BOATS IN AMERICA AT THIS POINT NEED TO BE PUT IN MUSEUMS FOR THE SERVICE THEY PERFORMED TO HELP END WWII.
    PERIOD.
