Watford 0-0 Tottenham – Jose Mourinho FULL Post Match Press Conference – Premier League – SUBTITLES

What are your reflections on that match overall? I think we played well, we started well,
we finished well. For the majority of the time we played well. It’s not easy to come
here and play with a team that is not physical and play with a team that is just technical. Apart from our defenders we played Winks,
Lo Celso, Lamela, Dele, Son and Lucas and I think we have control of the game for the
majority of the time. Sometimes it’s impossible because the way
they play is difficult, when they start putting the ball in the box and attacking second balls
and crossing the ball. It’s really, really hard but I thought we coped well with it. Also the set pieces, where they are very physical,
I thought we coped well with it. With our style of play, without a nine, but with lots
of people with creativity, with quality, and then we brought on Christian and Gedson. I
thought we played very well. *ALARM GOES OFF* Fire Maybe What did you make of the incident in the first
half with Capoue’s challenge on Tanganga? I prefer not to answer. To speak about the
VAR and the referee, Mr Oliver and Mr Kevin Friend, I go in one direction that I don’t
want to go. I have to start from minute one and not just from that incident and but that
incident and that incident, Capoue on Lo Celso. I have to talk about a lot of things and I
prefer not to. Good game, they fought hard for their point
and we fought for more, but the technology that I love and respect in the game, the goal
line technology, never makes a mistake. By one centimetre, maybe one millimetre, we didn’t
win but full respect to the goal line technology. I got used to, from the beginning, to respect
it and I don’t even have emotion because I wait for goal or not goal and carry on. So
just unlucky there, but that’s what it is. Is that lack of a physical edge to the squad,
is that something you are missing? I think we have to adapt to what we have and
we did it very well. It’s not about, sometimes the profile of the players is also sometimes
the way the team is used to competing. If you imagine our team today with Sissoko or
Harry Kane you find immediately two physical players. One who holds the ball up front and
another who is powerful in the midfield. So it’s not like you need to buy physical
players to make the team more physical. In normal conditions we have it. Then the competitive
profile is something that you need to grow up on that. In relation to that I’m very happy
that we come to such a difficult place and with the qualities we have on the pitch. We were good because we had control of the
game and we played well. I’m happy. The only thing I’m not happy is that result but I’m
happy with my boys, they did good. A good game. Can you see an improvement from day to day? We are working. I promised I did not want
to speak about the boys that are not playing and I have to try. But you know how important
they are for us. It is not easy. Again, this is a kind of game, I am not saying
we would win, but it is the kind of game where you have a goalscorer, where you have a guy
who smells goals, probably you win it. You feel the same when you see the Liverpool game,
in the last 20 minutes how many times we just need a tap-in. That missing link is there.
But we are doing our work. We all know. Injuries, it is the Christian
Eriksen situation, we have our problems. But in the game today and the game against Middlesbrough
– OK you can say it is a Championship team but at this moment there is no big difference
between the Premier League and Championship I think we showed good things, this organisation,
this commitment, the intensity is going higher, the creation is there. I am happy with lots
of things we did in the last few games. Do you need a striker in the window? If it’s possible yes, if it’s not possible
no. We all know, we all want the best for the team, the best for the club. That is obvious.
But we have to do things when it is possible to do, it is the right thing to do. This is
not the last match of Tottenham’s history. Next Wednesday we have another one, next season
we have many more. We have to be calm, be loyal to these boys,
respecting everything they are trying to do. If it happens it happens, if it doesn’t happen
it doesn’t happen. But good feelings, not a good result but good feelings with the boys. Is Danny Rose part of your plans? Yeah, part of my plans. Last match at home,
very offensive team, wanted also to develop young players and give another chance to Sessegnon
to play 90 minutes. It’s the kind of game that Rose doesn’t
need for his progression, he is already the player he is. And today he had a little injury
in his back two days ago, and yesterday we made the decision to bring only fit players. We knew it was going to be physical, at the
same time we knew that Sarr is a runner, and to control a runner not better than another
runner. So decision was also to bring Sessegnon on the bench in case we needed another winger.
So a bit of everything.

With 4 years of time Klopp did establish a strong team and making wonders. What was poch doing from 5 years. Has he won anything. Tottenham should start winning something and continue aiming winning. Request fans not to defend the club by just expecting good football and not winning anything.

I think he would require one or two established young stikers from other established clubs in Europe.. One should always keep in mind if the players not performing on the pitches no coach could be responsible for the success🏆💪🏆💪 of trophies. But for JM was a winner🏆🎉🏆 of some league Cups and trophies while coaching in Europe..

They played rather well except could not finish. They had five very good chances & if only they scored half of them no one would complain.

They have had these issues for some time. But he will resolve it in due time with new players.

Mourinho likes hard working physical players so even Alli might be gone in due time along with at least 7-8 others.

Some of you are really pure emotion without any sense of logic.

World class Guardiola has been at MC for 4 years & he is having his problems this year not to mention after spending over £500 millions.

They drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace today at home. CP was ahead most of the game. Tottenham drew 0-0 away. A clean sheet away is better than letting two goals in at home.

He needs time. Pochettino is the one who did not win anything after five years & bought most of the junk Mourinho has to clean out.

Barcelon just passed on him & so would others. Klopp took five years to get Liverpool where they are today & has spent a fortune. Mourinho will not even get such a load of funds so he has a lot of challenges.

What he does not need is a lot of trolls constantly calling him names.

Dele..well i reckon Son and Moura must have broken toes! Dele ran into them that often it wasnt funny. We have injuries..thats the only excuse.
Playing Tanganga on the left was a tough gig for the lad, playing Verts didnt help.
If thats how we are going to coninue to play might as well hope for a top ten finish. That was tripe..served cold.

He started moaning again! Not again Jose! Can you tell me one team with out missing a player or two due to injuries? Can you? I challenge you? When you play football you tend to get injuries! Isn't it? If anything is a part of playing football, it is injuries. You have won everything Jose. You are a top top manager. But you have developed a very bad habit of moan about injuries, moan about defensive errors, those ones you can commit in span of 90 mins of football so it's very normal. It puts pressure on the guys who are defending. Why don't you talk about that your style of play has become reactive and it's very predictable. Every manager in the world knows now how you gonna set your team up against big teams and how you gonna set your team against teams that are down in the table. Your philosophy of having one target man all the time is past now. Football has evolved. But it seems you are adamant not to change. It is not working. Floating balls high in the air from minute one directly to the target man and then he is alone amongst 3 giant defenders of the opposition team, loosing the ball immediately and then within seconds you loose possession. In the entire match your target man is so consistent loosing the high ball, and finding difficulty in keeping the ball up front, loosing the ball, there is no fluidity in your attacking build ups. There is so much pressure on the defensive midfielder to move the ball around , pass it, link it to your attacking options that he can't do it. He is too slow and predictable. He is getting intercepted too easily that there is no way forward for the ball to be in attacking areas for your team. It is slow, predictable and easy to counter. Then you just hope against hope that you gonna get one or two counter attacking opportunities that you can win. But you get only one or two in the entire match and if you don't score you loose or draw. It is becoming predictable Jose! It is impossible to not commit any single defensive mistake in too many matches in football. You should focus on creating few more to compensate for that one defensive mistake and release some pressure off your defensive line.

What game were you watching Jose? passing sideways and backwards isn't going to win anything,500 step overs by Lamela isn't going to win anything! Player in advanced positions can't even hit the target! This team is,with a few exceptions,a shambles. Players unable to move forward quickly enough. First time in 60 years I'm ashamed to be supporting this bunch of lazy millionaires.

EPL is now the most competitive league in the world. Look at the results:

    1. Liverpool won as usual at home.
    2. MC drew with Crystal Palace at home.
    3. Leicester City lost away at Burnley.
    4. Chelsea lost away at Newcastle.
    5. MU lost away at Liverpool.
    6. Sheffield United drew away at Arsenal.
    7. Wolves won away at Southampton.
    8. Tottenham drew away at Watford.

Looking at the above, Wolves did the best, followed by SU & Tottenham.

Yes I know but Liverpool is an exception. So I am leaving them in a separate category.
